in Windows and Mac – Gadgets Review

Optical drives are not commonly used these days. However CDs are a major type of drive for transferring files. When burning files to a CD, most laptops have a built-in burner.

For burning files, Windows and Mac Os are different methods. But all of them allow you to burn files to CDs. If you do not have a single built-in, there are CD burner software available.

In this article, we will learn how to burn a CD in a laptop. We will use a built-in CD burner to burn files. Let’s get started.

Requirements for burning CDs

You can burn a CD or DVD on both Windows or Mac laptops. You need to use different methods to do this. But there are other requirements that a laptop needs to burn a CD.

The first thing you need is a CD burner. This allows you to copy your data or music files to a computer and make your own CD. In most cases, such programs are already installed on computers.

If you do not have a CD player, you can purchase one. It’s easy to set them up. Also, you can use an external USB drive as well.

Again, you need a blank CD where you will burn the files. For CDs, it is sufficient to use CD-R (CD-Recordable). They will support any programs. But this can only be used once and you cannot delete data. If you want to rewrite, use CD-RW (CD-Rewritable). He will help you rewrite the disc up to 1000 times.

However, I did not mention the production process in this regard. Both Windows and Mac Os are fully equipped to burn CDs. In Chrome OS, this is possible but comes with some drawbacks. I will discuss this later.

How to burn a CD in Windows OS

In Windows-powered laptops, there are basically two types of burning CDs depending on the type of files. Another type is to burn data files and another is to burn music files. There are two different ways of each of them. However, let’s get into it.

Burning data files:

First, place the files in a separate folder that you are going to burn. This is not mandatory but makes the process easier. I will mention two ways to burn data files. Let us know about a simple one that I really like.

  • Select the files in the folder

Put all the files in one folder for easy access. It will complete the task as soon as possible.

Open the CD slot and insert the CD. CD must be empty. If there is a file, delete the CD first. As I mentioned earlier, use the CD-RW to locate the site.

This can only happen once you click “Burn to disc” which I mentioned later.

  • Open file location from file Explorer

Now go to File Explorer and find the folder where you put all the files.

  • Selecting files or folders

Select the files. This can be easily done by clicking and dragging the mouse pointer over the files and right-clicking.

You can also click the individual files holding the “Control” button on the keyboard. However, it is the only file, so just click on the file name and right-click.

  • Click the share button

When you click on the right, you will get a share button and click on it.

  • Kudina “Burn to disc”

After clicking “Share”, you will find “Burn to disc” at the top. Click it.

  • Click “Burn” in the new tab

A new window will open and click “Fire” on this.

  • Close the tab after burning

Burning will take some time depending on the size of the file. When you have completed the task, open the window.

And your job is done.

Now come the other way. While I like the above, I mention the alternative. You might like that.

  • Upload files to a folder

As before, save the files you want to burn to the folder.

Put an empty CD to burn. Select CD-RW to burn.

  • Right-click on the files and burn them

When you right-click on the files, more options will be opened. For them, select “Send to” and then “DVD / CD-RW” or “DVD RW Drive”.

At the bottom of the window, a picture of a CD balloon will appear. Click the icon to get a list of files that need to be burned.

  • Click “Copy these files to CD”

After clicking this, you will be prompted to burn the files to your CD with the CD Writing Wizard.

Now your data files are burned to CD.

Burning music files:

You can burn audio files for 70-80 minutes on CD. You can do it easily with Windows Media Player. Let’s see the steps.

As with previous methods, place a blank CD. I am making a CD-RW.

  • Open Windows Media Player

Click on the Windows logo in the corner and you will see Windows Media Player. Click to open.

Then you will see the Library path. Click on it.

After clicking, select “All songs” from the categories.

  • Select the “On Fire” option

At the top right corner, you will find the “Fire” option. Click on this.

Then select the music files and add them to the heat tab.

  • Click on “Audio CD” from options

Click the image options and select “Audio CD” for this.

  • Start burning and wait until you finish

Click on the “Start Heating” option and this process is required for a limited time. Wait until the burning is complete.

This is how you can burn music files with Windows Media Player.

How to burn a CD in Mac OS

You can burn file data or music file to Mac Os too. Here I show you how to burn data files only.

Before that I would like to inform you that Macs does not have a CD player. You need to purchase and install a CD player first. Learn about step by step instructions.

You will see a search bar in the right-hand corner. Click on this.

  • Open Disk Utility and select heat

You will see a option called Disk Utility, open this. Choose to burn from there.

Open the file location and select the files.

Click on “Burn”. Then a pop-up window will open and click “Fire” on it deeply.

  • Click OK and wait until you finish

After a while, click OK. Then wait for the burn to stop.

Can you burn a CD on Chrome OS?

Chrome OS is different from Windows and Mac OS. Chrome is web-based and designed for cloud storage. However, you can take data files with an external drive. But they cannot record files and play music or video CDs. But in the end Chrome Os will not be able to burn files to CD or DVD.

Final thoughts

We often need to download some files to our computer. CDs, DVDs, scripts are the ones that run outside for this purpose. For CDs, you need to burn files. In this article, I have tried to cover how to burn a CD in a laptop.

Select Windows or Mac Os to burn the files. I hope this helps you.
